Why Choose the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park

The UK’s only coastal National Park with a path stretches over 186 Miles point to point and has approximately 32,000ft of ascents and descents that really is a walkers paradise. The route is visually stunning, full of wildlife, steeped in history and modern culture, with it’s remoteness broken by the quaintest of hamlets and fishing villages you will come across. The path is a true walkers trail and the Pembrokeshire people you will meet along the way are famously warm, friendly and welcoming. These facts together with the following highlights make this an ultimate experience and at bucket list walk for anyone.

The Highlights

  • The Coastline is steeped in History from the Iron Age, Vikings, early Christianity and World War 2 and includes the birthplace of St David – the Patron Saint of Wales. It also hosts the Chapel and departure place of St Patrick as he set off for Ireland. It is the Site of the last land Invasion of the UK and The Birthplace of King Henry VII to name but a few.
  • The path is filled with iconic chapels, fortified Castles, quaint working fishing villages, old trade harbours and smugglers coves, all with their own story and place in history.
  • Depending on the time of year the wildlife is abundant from sea birds and mammals to land creatures, many of which are unique to the area and magnificent to view in their natural environment. You will also walk along and pass areas of significant wildlife importance such as Ramsey and Skomer Islands.
  • The area has also managed to embrace the modern world, without losing it’s charm or identity. As such you will pass locations used in TV and Hollywood Film sets from Doctor Who, Under Milkwood, Russell Crowe’s Robin Hood and the Harry Potter series. There are sites used for major sporting events such as the RedBull World Series Cliff Diving Championships at the awesome natural amphitheatre of the Blue Lagoon or The Ironman Wales Triathlon held at Tenby and the surrounding area. It’s no coincidence that these iconic brands have chosen the Pembrokeshire Coast Path for flag ship events.

What the Packages include – Why Choose Us

They are self-guided walks (for a guide please contact us)

They range from the 3 day short break to a 15 day full experience (or contact us for a bespoke package)

Included in the Price will be B&B Accommodation in hand picked quality establishments, Bag transfers between each accommodation leaving you free to concentrate on and enjoy the walk. An itinerary and information pack put together by us with our local knowledge, which will include stories, and local legend not found in any other tourist book as well as all the useful and nice to know information you will need for your trip.

As a nice little rest bite from the path we provide a rib ride boat trip around Ramsey Island – an adventure in it’s self, which is as educating as it is exhilarating. If the weather does not allow this another suitable tour will be offered as a replacement.

The real bonus and benefit is that we are situated in the City of St David’s, which lies in the centre of the National Park. Therefore we can offer immediate support, advice and assistance in person should it be required. As all walks pass through St David’s it will be extremely easy just to pop into our office to say hello and let us know how the adventure is going.

Our team are all local residents raised in Pembrokeshire, who have either walked, run, cycled, swam, kayaked or driven the Path and Pembrokeshire Coast a thousand times between us. Our knowledge of the paths, the area, accommodation and services available are second to none.

We really do have a passion for the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and love other people experiencing the magic of it.

The Big One – 186 miles – Packages from £1185

A 15 day package that takes in the entire Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

This is a bucket list walk, one that not many can claim to have done in one go and is ideal for those who love a challenge and have good stamina. The Walk really does have it all from the rugged cliffs of the North, to the marine life and islands of the central section to the beaches and seaside towns of the South – not to mention the secluded little fishing villages and quaint harbours that you will come across throughout the whole journey.

For ease we choose to start the walk in the North as we believe the Northern section is the most difficult and best done first. This section will see you travel the coast line of the Irish Sea along some of the highest cliffs in the UK, passing though some picture postcard fishing villages, hamlets and bays until you reach the most Westerly point in Wales at St David’s Head – site of an Iron Age fort – you will then start heading South East into St Brides Bay, where you will pass through areas of outstanding natural beauty, steeped in history and local legend, including St David’s Birth Place, the site St Patrick left for Ireland, and the magnificent Norman Castle of Pembroke which boasts the birth place of Henry VII.

It is hard to put into words what an experience this walk is and the sense of achievement and fulfilment you will have during, and after completing this once in a life time journey.
